Amazon Editorial Review
There's not one cougar to be found in 24's dynamic third season, and that's good news for everyone. After Jack Bauer's daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) survived hokey hazards in season 2, she's now a full-time staffer at CTU, the L.A.-based intelligence beehive that's abuzz once again--three years after the events of "Day Two"--when a vengeful terrorist threatens to release a lethal virus that could wipe out much of the country's population. Jack (Kiefer Sutherland) attempts to broker a deal for the virus involving drug kingpin Ramon Salazar (Joaquim de Almeida), whose operation Jack successfully infiltrated at high personal cost: to maintain his cover, he got hooked on heroin. That potentially deadly triangle--drug lords, addiction, and bioterrorism on a massive scale--sets the 24-hour clock ticking in a tight, action-packed plot involving a potential traitor in CTU's midst; the return of TV's greatest villainesses in Nina Meyers (Sarah Clarke) and former First Lady Sherry Palmer (Penny Johnson Jerald); a troubled romance between Kim and Jack's new partner Chase (James Badge Dale); and a scandalized reelection campaign by president David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert), who monitors CTU as they struggle to (literally) save the day.

The intricately woven subplots that are 24's greatest strength are masterfully developed here, and character arcs are equally strong, especially among CTU staffers Tony (Carlos Bernard) and his wife Michelle (Reiko Aylesworth); CTU director Ryan Chappelle (Paul Schulze), who is season 2's tragic bargaining chip; and the annoying but well-intentioned Chloe O'Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub), who makes pivotal contributions with by-the-book efficiency. It's 24's superior casting that overcomes the series' occasional lapses in credibility, and season 3's twists make marathon viewing a nerve-wracking delight. By the time it's all over, with a high body count and the surgical reattachment of a main character's severed hand, 24 once again leaves you gratefully exhausted. As always, Sutherland anchors the series in the role he was born to play. When Jack takes a private moment to release 24 hours' worth of near-fatal tension and psychological anguish, Sutherland proves that 24's dramatic priorities are as important as its thriller momentum. DVD extras include behind-the-scenes featurettes (about the prison break sequence, climactic F-18 Hornet air-strike, and real-life bio-weaponry) that pay welcome tribute to the series' hard-working crew, who create Emmy-worthy television under pressures as intense as 24 itself. --Jeff Shannon

Amazon Customer Reviews:

My least favourite but still amazing - (5/5)
For some reason this is probably my least favourite season but nevertheless it is still absolutely fantastic. There are some epic moments and episodes here that i would consider my absolute favourites but something just relegates it below the others, i don't know what it is, maybe the bad guy isn't up scratch, either way saying this is my least favourite is hardly an insult.

Top stuff and Jacks rawest ever moment is in this series.

great but needs a little bit of change - (4/5)
This is still one of the best TV shows I have seen for quite a long time. Season One was excellent, followed by Season Two which was also very good. This Season is still great TV, and very addictive to watch. Still have the great Kiefer Sutherland playing Jack Pauer, and more or less the main characters are the same with few modifications. The plot is as always with 24 full of twists, and unexpected turns. A lot has been said already about this season, and the other ones, so I would not be able to force anyone to see it by words, all I can say is that this is great stuff, and if you do not see it, then you are missing a lot. For me this seasons was not as great as the previous two. Things I did not like about it: more or less things are getting a tiny bit repetitive, there is the threat, the extremely patriotic and loyal president in danger in a way or another, the mole in CTU, and the one guy who will solve all this, Jack Pauer, which is getting a bit on the edge of being exaggerated. I did not like it at all when Nina Meyers was brought back again to play, cause at the end of season 2, she was captured, and sent to exile, and this is explained in episode 10 as she apparently 'slipped' into the USA again. I think brining another character to play would have been better. Someone else was brought to play, and also made it a bit boring: Sherry Palmer, who seems also to always escape from what ever bad things she comes, and then just comes to help David Palmer.
These little things made me a bit less interested in this season than the previous two. I still enjoyed it, the action is great, the acting is very well done, and the plot is good. A bit of more radical change would have made this the best season so far, and I hope the next season will be even better. Highly recommended series, very enjoyable to watch, but be warned, it is very addictive.

Good, but not essential - (3/5)
It's a good season, but not as good as the first two. It's less addictive, and all this running around, chasing, pushing someone to ive away information etc, is getting boring after a while, for me anyway. Besides that, the whole plot is not THAT unique, it knid of resembles to me the second's season plot with terrorists attack and this kind of stuff... Whatever, it's not bad, but not a must-see.

3 DOWN BRING ON 4!!!! - (5/5)
No point really going on here everybody knows this is top draw stuff, I thought this was better than 1 & 2. This for me had a better story and the bringing Chase in just added a little more spice to the already prefect ingredients I hope 4 is as good as 3.

Brilliant - (5/5)
After watching and being fairly disappointed with season 2, I was in trepidation over season 3.
I need not have worried. This one hits the mark. It has twists and turns that genuinely leave you surprised, and lots of that 24 factor that has you saying, 'Well, just one more episode'!
Tight scripting, great acting and lots of actions and thrills.
Very highly recommended.
